In 1980 I was asked to create a monument to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the public cemetery in my home town. It symbolizes the cycle of life. After 32 years it was in disrepair. This month I was pleased to hear that it is relocated to a better place and that it will be restored. On its new place it will be a venue for commemorations.
Looking for a appropriate context I found the inspiring music of Nina Simone.

Who knows where the time goes
(1966)
Sandy Denny
Across the
evening sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can
they know it's time for them to go?
Before the
winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I have no
thought of time
For who
knows where the time goes?
Who knows
where the time goes?
Sad,
deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Ah, but
then you know it's time for them to go
But I will
still be here, I have no thought of leaving
I do not
count the time
For who
knows where the time goes?
Who knows
where the time goes?
And I am
not alone while my love is near me
I know it
will be so until it's time to go
So come the
storms of winter and then the birds in spring again
I have no
fear of time
For who
knows how my love grows?
And who knows where the time goes?

That song always makes me cry. I hear Judy Collins singing it in my head though.
Beautiful song and great news about the monument.
Thanks, Eric, and happy 2013 to you.
What a meaningful work of art. Happy to hear that it will be restored.
