rivers
The title of the series "river and dam" is inspired on: Gary Bartz - I've known Rivers.
The song is based on a poem by the poet Langston Hughes.
I've known rivers:
I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the
flow of human blood in human veins.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young.
I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it.
I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln
went down to New Orleans, and I've seen its muddy
bosom turn all golden in the sunset.
I've known rivers:
Ancient, dusky rivers.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.

These are wonderful series, love the flow, the color, everything. And thanks for the poem that inspired it.
I have always loved this poem by Langston Hughes...thank you for posting. I also like the way you have posted your work all together...beautiful!
Wonderful series of paintings, marvellous textures and colours.
And they work so well with this brilliant poem which I didn't know - it is indeed very inspiring.
WOW. Eric! Look at these!!! Thank you, I really wanted to see this exhibition hung in one place. Marvelous series. As each piece unfolded I truly wondered why I kept feeling such a strong Jazz/musical presence. Langston Hughes - mystery solved. (Loved the Gary Bartz link.) You've captured it all. Bravo!
I'm so glad you left a comment on my blog - it led me here to see these wonderful works. I love the combination of colours and shapes; they look so good together!
